2025 Masters Preview: Early Betting Lines, Top Contenders, and Value Picks for Augusta

Hello friends. Yes, winter is coming, but It’s never too early to start thinking about Augusta in April. Let’s take a peek at some early betting lines to remind us that the Azaleas will soon bloom again, and Spring is only one season away.

Odds To Win: (Draft Kings)

The Chalk

Scottie Scheffler +450

No surprise here. Scottie is coming off a dominating season we haven’t seen the likes of since Tiger Woods. In addition to taking the Green Jacket in 2024, Scottie racked up seven other wins, including the Player’s Championship. Scottie also became the first player to win at Augusta and run it back the following week in Hilton Head at the RBC Heritage. He also won the Fed Ex Cup and the twenty-five million dollar pay day that came with it. Scottie was a non-factor at the U.S. and Open Championships but was robbed of his juice at the PGA Championship by the Louisville Police Department.

The X-man + 1200

If not for the season Scottie Scheffler had Xander Schauffele would likely have a less attractive price. Xander stumbled on Sunday at Augusta but rebounded nicely and took the PGA Championship as well as the Open Championship at Royal Troon. The X-man showed up when the lights were the brightest and solidified his position as one of the true elites in the game. Scottie took the spoils from Augusta in 2024 but Xander has been consistently knocking on the door to Butler Cabin. Consider his recent record at the Masters. His price should be shorter.

Bryson DeChambeau +1800

Considered quirky and polarizing by critics, nobody can argue that Bryson DeChambeau is really good at golfing the ball. Less visible since he joined the LIV Tour, Bryson showed this year that out of sight should not mean out of mind when it comes to major championships. In 2024 Bryson finished T6 at the Masters, 2nd at the PGA Championship and won his 2nd U.S. Open title at Pinehurst. He missed the cut the Open Championship but it’s impossible to argue against a win and a pair of top ten major finishes. Bryson also gets a cookie for keeping himself in the public eye by launching a YouTube channel. Can GM Golf and I Break 50 From The Red Tees? (youtube.com) Bryson has 1.5 million subscribers, but that number will skyrocket if he is able to capture his first Green Jacket in April.

Value

Outside of the chalk plays, there are some real value opportunities a little bit further down the board. Colin Morikawa and Brooks Koepka are both +2200. Morikawa is coming off a strong finish to 2024 and will certainly look to keep the momentum going leading up to the 2025 President’s Cup. Brooks has one of the best major championship resumes in the game but it still chasing the Green Jacket. The guy who only seems to care about majors shouldn’t be ignored, especially at this price.

Legit Longshots

The odds of winning the Powerball are 1 and 292.2 million. The odds of Sahith Theegala winning the 2025 Masters are +8000. Sahith looks like a much better play. This number seems far too generous considering he had an outstanding 2024 season and carried the momentum all season long, finishing 3rd in the FedEx Cup rankings. He is currently the number 12 ranked player in the world and poised to make a big splash in 2025.

Will Zalatoris has been on the mend, dealing with back problems. But if Willy Z can stay healthy, he can contend at Agusta. He has three top ten finishes including a 2nd place finish in 2021 – one stroke behind champion Hideki Matsuyama. At +4000, a wager on Willy Z doesn’t have the same value as Sahith, but his course history justifies the difference.
